Speed, stability, agility. The V9 has it all in spades!

The latest entry to the Epic surfski line up can take you to new and exciting places you’ve only dreamed of: downwind surfing, open-ocean crossings, challenging races, fitness sessions, or just plain fun.

The V9 was designed to fill a sweet spot between the V8 Pro and V10 Sport and offers developing paddlers a nimble platform for improved open water performance, in particular surfing waves thanks to the weight distribution, rudder position, tapered deck volume and increased rocker. For advanced paddlers the V9 offers stability, manoeuvrability, a surprisingly dry ride, and at just under 5.8m long is very easy to accelerate. This is a ski that feels physically “light” to paddle and fits between short wind-generated runs, quickly popping up and over (or flicking left and right) to take advantage of the next opportunity. Flatwater speed is a step up from the V8 Pro due to the slightly narrower beam.

Key design features in comparison to the V8 Pro:

1. Low profile cutaway nose for better wave piercing, increased maneuverability and less disturbance from crosswinds

2. More volume just in front of the paddler and less paddle strike cutaway area, both features help the front deck to shed water when popping over runs

3. An overall increase in rocker, immediately in front and behind the area where the paddler's weight is distributed

4. Reduced beam (50.5 to 49cm) and seat width (41.5 to 40.5cm). As a result the seat is slightly snugger than the V8 Pro, which heavier paddlers or paddlers with wider hips may still prefer.

5. Deeper and rounder shape just behind the seat to increase buoyancy, reduce the chances of catching an edge, and increase "lift" upon first contact with a wave

6. More rocker added to the tail (aids stern releases when surfing) than the nose (maintains tracking/stops wandering, allows "pop" rather than "push" over waves)

7. Rudder moved forward for increased steering sensitivity

The V9 includes the same great outfitting features of the V8 Pro, including the bow, stern and centre carry handles, water bottle holder, and the patented Epic bailer.

The seat ergonomics of the V9 are superb, incorporating the shape of the Gen 3 V10 seat, with a lower “hump” under the knees for improved leg power. The cockpit configuration, with the fully adjustable Epic footboard, accommodates paddlers from 4’11 to 6’6” tall (1.5 to 1.99 m).
