Vaikobi Winter Series

Loading schedule...

Alongside the Derwent Canoe Club, we are very pleased to introduce this year's Winter Series, and welcome Vaikobi on board as series sponsor.

We are extending our successful summer series format to the colder months, giving you an opportunity to keep fit, challenge yourselves, stay motivated...and have fun! We will again be offering a very inclusive series across 3 divisions, with gear hire available if you don't have your own. The series schedule will feature a variety of conditions, with traditional flatwater/river and beach/bay/open water courses, meaning that eventual series winners will possess a diverse array of skills...with no race the same!

Series schedule (10.30am starts for all events):
Race 1 - Sat 28 May @ southern end Kingston Beach
Race 2 - Sat 25 Jun @ Millbrook Rise boat ramp (approx 4km downstream of New Norfolk on the Lyell Highway side)
Race 3 - Sat 30 Jul @ southern end Kingston Beach
Race 4 - Sat 27 Aug @ Franklin boat ramp (north of camping ground and south of the football oval on the Franklin foreshore)
Race 5 - Sat 17 Sep @ southern end Kingston Beach

Three distances will be available at each event (approx 10-12km for Div 1, 8-9km for Div 2, and 4-6km for Div 3) with first time participation encouraged. Series categories will be Junior U18, Youth U23, Open, Masters U45, Veteran U55 and Super Veteran O55 for male & female paddlers. We are also offering an Open category for double ski paddlers.

Thanks to generous support from Vaikobi there will be spot prizes during the series and overall series prizes, with both volunteers & competitors going into stand-alone draws. If you're interested in volunteering at some point during the series please let us know, it would be very much appreciated!

Please contact us or check out our Facebook page for more information.

We look forward to seeing you there!
