No wind? No waves? No motivation? No problem! Learn the art of handling your craft at speed with our brand new Motor Pacing and Surfing Skills session. Using a wake-enhanced IRB with a video analysis option we will take you step-by-step through a physically & technically challenging session designed to dramatically increase your paddling confidence. After the session we’ll review your progress and identify areas for future improvement. The IRB also provides an excellent level of safety during this session, which is suitable for early-stage paddlers through to advanced competitors. This session is a lot of fun, and you will learn a great deal in a very short amount of time!
The use of powered craft for this purpose allows us to work precisely at a range of speeds which are realistic & challenging for you...it’s like having your own wave pool on cue. Too often in nature the wind & wave combinations we encounter are unsuitable for effective learning, with the speed & pitch too high or low. Suitable natural conditions can also appear intimidating to paddlers learning about wind, waves, pointbreaks & shorebreaks for the first time. Powered craft are often used as a coaching aid for water sports, but normally only for safety or to keep coaches in better visual contact with participants. In this unique session, we explore the full potential of mechanical advantage for accelerating your skill development. We think you'll be pleasantly surprised by the results!
This session is available in both 1-on-1 or 2-person formats, with a video review option. We recommend a 1-on-1 format for early-stage, intermediate & advanced paddlers, with the 2-person format most suitable for advanced paddlers only. You have the choice of using your own gear (recommended for maximum session benefit), however if you are worried about navigating your own craft in close proximity to the IRB, gear hire (ski, paddle, PFD & leg leash) is included with every session at no extra cost. Sessions are run by appointment, with flexible venue options depending on your focus and level of experience.
