Fast Track is devoted to downwind! Surfskis are the fastest human powered craft on the water thanks to their ability to tap into energy from wind & waves. This reward for effort and pure enjoyment of using the conditions to paddle efficiently in open water is why so many people love surfski sport.

The reason
Fast Track has joined our coaching lineup to help paddlers master local downwind conditions. Fast Track will also enable paddlers to bridge the gap between our local programs and our Tasmanian, interstate & international surfski tours where downwind elements are the central focus.

The season
Summer and autumn…our warmest and most predictable weather windows! Fast Track will operate in a range of southerly, northerly, sea breeze and even light offshore wind directions, and on flatter days will work on groundswell & rebound energy alone.

The course
We’ll be using the area between Blackmans Bay, Taroona and Sandy Bay to introduce Fast Track. Measuring 11km, the full course from Blackmans to Long Beach is around the same length as the famous Millers Run in Cape Town South Africa, and contains 5 distinctly different sections to challenge us and enhance specific skills along the way.

The schedule
Consistency is key when building open water fitness, experience, skills & confidence. Fast Track is open to both recreational & competitive paddlers and is particularly suitable to intermediate level masters & veteran age paddlers. If you have competitive goals our 2026 Fast Track season offers 4 sessions prior to the TAS Ocean Racing Champs in Hobart on March 21st, followed by another 4 in the leadup to the AUS Ocean Racing Champs in Burnie on April 18th.

Fast Track will run on the below Saturday 4.00pm and Monday 5.00pm timeslots. You must make your own car shuttle arrangements before getting on the water. A typical schedule will be:
◾️ car shuttle to Long Beach done prior to check in
◾️ meet NLK Kingston for check in at 4pm or 5pm
